The Adoption Process

Complete and return our Adoption Application.

Your application will be reviewed and if approved, a home visit is required. One of our volunteers will contact you to schedule a home inspection. Qualified adopters will then be invited to visit a dog they are interested in adopting. A qualified NED adoption coordinator will meet with you at the foster home.

If all parties agree to proceed with the adoption, the next step consists of a contractual agreement between NED and the dog's new family.

The final step is a tax deductible donation. We require this fee to cover our expenses which include transportation, spay/neuter, necessary shots and veterinarian care.

All NED dogs are assessed and treated by our private vets.

IMPORTANT! We may be working on many applications at once, and usually have numerous applications for the same dog. As a result, we may not have time to respond to your application unless we feel it is a good match for a particular dog. We are an all volunteer organization and we promise to do our best to keep up with the volume of emails and applications. We appreciate your patience in this process.

ADOPTION FEES

$300.00 for all dogs. We pride ourselves on providing excellent care for all of our dogs. We also microchip each dog prior to adoption, an added expense we feel is in the best interest of the dogs. Each animal we adopt out is spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. The cost to accomplish this privately would easily exceed $300; therefore we believe the adoption donation is very reasonable. The board of directors has also voted to donate $10 of each adoption donation to the NH low cost spay/neuter clinic - a program that allows low income residents to have their animal spayed/neutered at a reduced cost. This program is not adequately funded to meet the needs of New Hampshire residents and we hope that this program will assist in that capacity.

NEW ENGLAND DOGLIFT RESERVES THE RIGHT TO DENY ANY APPLICANT BASED ON OUR GUIDELINES AND POLICIES. WE STRIVE TO MATCH EACH DOG WITH THE MOST APPROPRIATE ADOPTER(S). ALL APPLICANTS WITH EXISTING ANIMALS MUST HAVE THOSE ANIMALS UP TO DATE ON ALL SHOTS AND BE SPAYED/NEUTERED - WE WILL CONFIRM THIS WITH YOUR VET. ALL APPLICANTS WILL ALSO BE EXPECTED TO PASS A HOME VISIT/INTERVIEW PROCESS WITH A NED VOLUNTEER.
